After several mistakes, I sucessfully burned SawIII.
Must use Ripit4me latest version, 1.64 along with FixVTS1.6.0.3
If you don't have both, find thread in this forum to INSTALL Ritit4me. This will install both in same directory. Also, for smooth automatic ripped and burning make sure to have DVD Shrrink and DVD Decryptor installed.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...START RIPIT4ME, THEN INSERT DISC.
Then follow directions. I did this in 1click mode and used FixVTS at the end when requested. Voila!
Thanks to all th others from whom I geaned all the necessary info.

Only the older final version of VOBB didn't open the movie. 2.1.2.0. The beta 4 of 2.1.3.0 worked just fine.

I didn't lose much time over this (thankfully). Initially, yeah, I was taken aback by how much was on this disc. My DVD player programs on my desktop (WinDVD and Nero Showtime) wasn't even able to play it! AnyDVD 6107 couldn't rip it, and apparently, it couldn't decrypt it since VOBB couldn't even open it. DVDFab didn't recognize the disc either.

From there, I went to Ripit4me, with the latest fixVTS, and I successfully ripped the entire disc to the HDD. I didn't want to burn it because according to other members here, I would have been able to burn the main movie. I like my full discs (minus the trailers, warnings, music videos etc.).

The AnyDVD and VOBB betas seem to work. Up yours to Lionsgate! At least I only lost about 2 hours of my life. lol

The files you get from RI4M are completely cleaned and compliant when you use FixVTS. When RI4M opens the files in Shrink, they're ready to edit, record or do whatever you want. It's no different than having ripped an old DVD with DVD Decrypter. So at that point you could open the files in whatever software you want and transcode or encode the files how you want.

    FYI,

I tried Saw 3 with RI4M 1.6.4.0 and FixVTS 1.6.0.2 The first time and it didn't work. Then I downloaded the latest version of CloneDVD 2 and it allowed me to rip the movie itself.

While reading I downloaded the latest version of FixVTS 1.6.0.3 and ran the whole DVD again with RI4M with with the new fixVTS and it went through just fine.

I did not know that! Good looking ;) This was the first time I used Ripit4me.

But I just did the full disc backup. From the other Saw thread:

I just did the same as CD0728, and I am able to burn just the Main Move of SAW 3. Hopefully DVDFAB will have an update for there software in a day or so, and then we should be able to get the whole DVD.

the reason why you cant burn saw 3 is because its a duel layer cd you can only burn single layers but if you can find a burning program you can get it burned i used 123 clone a dvd and it burned so try to find that on the web your best bet is to go to ask jeeves.com and find it best luck to you

Everything you need for RipIt4Me is free, and it works now. You do need to update the FixVTS to 1.6.0.3. The FixVTS download is in Software here at AD Read the guide (small) and give RI4M a try. Be sure to have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed before using the RI4M installer (which installs FixVTS along with the RI4M). http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html

Once the copy protection is "cleaned" the files can be burned to DL or transcoded/encoded to DVD5. Other than the copy protection this DVD is no different than others to backup.

DVD Decrypter doesn't do it for me as well...even when going through RIPit4ME.

    Locks up at about 11%.

Tried a different disc and same thing.

Unsure of where to go from here, but currently attempting various methods. Will post back l8r if a solution is found on my end.

Up till recently I used AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter and processed with FixVTS as needed. It was a sure thing until I ran into Talladega Nights. Saw 3 is just more of the same. The extra bad VTS have some software acting up. That's what was happening with RI4M before the FixVTS update. I ran Saw 3 through RI4M with FixVTS processing selected. About 30 minutes later (without an error) I had the cleaned files for a Full DVD backup. I have the logs if anyone is interested. DVD Decrypter only slowed down for inserting Dummy Sectors and RI4M blanked them in the cleanup. Slysoft and the others will probably catch up pretty soon, but the freebie (RI4M) won out on the latest copy protections.

OK since there are 2 versions of SAW III out there, DVDFab Decrypter 3060Beta can't touch the "UNRATED EDITION" (US, Region 1). Fengtao is awared of it and he's trying to fix this as we speaks, so a new beta should be on the way real soon.

The above is my RipIt4Me log -- I ripped it earlier this afternoon. It took me 28 minutes long to successfully completed ripping and processing via FixVTS.

For god sake, this is not a joke - definitely "SAW III: UNRATED EDITION" is not your typical DVD to be ripped and backup... there are freaken 99 VTS? Inevitably, this is NOT a joke at all -- freaken SONY is getting more and more nastier now-a-days.

Despite of all those corrupted vts, sectors, unreferenced cells and especially SONY, RipIt4Me is the winner in the end, and once again it (RipIt4Me) ripped SAW III: UNRATED EDITION flawlessly.

Since I enjoyed SAW III as much as SAW (Part 1), I had to encode with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 via 3 PASSES VBR. All I gotta say is "damn Sony..."

Welcome to the real world of DVD editing and I highly suggest newbies should start learning how to use PgcEdit, DVDRemake Pro, MenuShrink or IfoEdit or at least VobBlanker. Best of luck to all and happy burning.

It's not the regular DVD file setup for sure. But with RI4M "SAW III: UNRATED EDITION" was a walk in the park. I opened Saw 3 in RI4M, selected process with FixVTS and let it run. About 30 minutes later I had a well cleaned set of files for a Full DVD backup. The file structure was very similar to Talladega Nights, just more of the bad VTS. Luckily with the FixVTS update the software learned to count high enough to get the job done. ;)
