Below are corrections to the short guide so beginners won't misunderstand. My additions or changes are in red.

It's not a race, but the methods could have been a bit better and CloneDVD2 is optional if a person owns it, not a required tool to get the job done. The entire backup can be done using only the core programs comprising the RI4M suite (rip with RI4M, transcode with Shrink, and burn with DVD Decrypter).

    Hello Everyone,

I'm a newbie to the site! Been reading much of the stuff in the forums for years, but finally decided to register today.

Anyway in regards to this movie (Saw III), I finally ripped the movie this morning thanks to your help.

I have been a AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 user for many years and when trying to burn this movie with those apps it failed. Basically I screwed up my AnyDVD registry so bad that I can't get it to work, if you know what I mean.

Any, after reading the most recent thread regarding success by N2DVD (Thank You) I was able to burn the movie with the apps he referenced.

I've know about all the different app out there for backing up my movies, but still like the ease that AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 gives you.

I will most likely continue to use my favorite apps, but would am welcome to any suggestion on other apps you peeps may think work better.

25 to 30 minutes to burn a movie from start to finish is what I'm used to.

Bell well everone and have a great year! AfterDawn is the shissit!

hmmmmm, wonder why DVD Decrypter (inside RipIt4ME) is causing me trouble, if it seems to be working for most others with similar setups.

Basically what happens is that although I don't get a log error within Decrypter, the disc actually ejects out of the DVD tray after a few minutes of ripping (only for it to reclose and unsuccessfully attempt again).

Perhaps I have a bad Saw 3 disc??

This statement brings up a question for me. I have always thought this to be true and as far as I know, it still may be. Here is where I am confused. I have been religiously using Nero 7, Shrink DVD, and Any DVD and copied 98% of what I tried. The other two percent I have had to add DVD Decrypter and Vob Blanker to the arsenal and was able to copy those as well. With Saw 3, none of that worked. Like the other post here, it wouldnt even begin to copy. I downloaded Clone DVD2 and it was a piece of cake with absolutely no hassel. Playing around with it, I also noticed I could make a second copy in about 6 minutes compared to around 20 minutes with Shrink because it has to encode all over again. So anyway the question is, if Any DVD does all the work as stated, why did switching from Shrink to Clone Dvd2 Solve the problem?

Ok, slightly seperate question. If you've enabled AC3 5.1-ch English is there any point enabling the other four AC3 2-ch English options?

I've always used Shrink, Anydvd and Nero with very little trouble. Sometimes I have to go through Decrypter. I had the same trouble with Saw 3. I've been doing this for a while but really don't understand all the techinal stuff behind it. I downloaded and installed RI4M, turned off Anydvd and let it go. I followed the commands and it was perfect. It's cool how it uses Decrypter and Shrink in the process. It worked for me. Thanks.

RipIt4Me does work. There must be something else going on. Posting the full DebugLog.txt file may shed some light. I have seen some logs where people have 50 or more programs running in the backgroung. Some of them can interfere with the ripping process.

The above is my earlier reply on the other page.

Again, YES.... RipIt4Me does worked 100% flawlessly. However, you must have the latest updated RipIt4Me 1.6.4.0 and FixVTS 1.6.0.3 in order to handle this (SAW 3: UNRATED EDITTION) smoothly.

I made full disc of saw 3

    Used AnyDvd 6.1.1.1- http://sandbox.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD6111.exe
    Ripit4me
    Fixvts
    Dvd Decrypter
    Dvd Shrink

    All software is latest versions
Started RipIt4Me - asked to close AnyDvd - NO DO NOT - Leave running
ignored all errors from Dvd Decrypter
let everything run through it's own processes and when done burned to disk using clonedvd - latest version of course
Tried with other versions of anydvd running but no luck - above version only one that worked. Enjoy!

    @jw2

This doesn't sounds right, you should of have DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 instead. Plus your DVD Decrypter didn't even ripped at all. You may need to redownload DVD Decrypter and reinstall again. The below is my RipIt4Me log and yours should be something identical to that once RipIt4Me is completed.

Same here, I had 6 - 8 errors and ignored them and Shrink opened and burnt. I'm half way through watching it and so far so good....

Someone a couple posts back asked if anyone copied full DVD. I did, with directions from someone else on here. You missed the post maybe. With any luck you will see this one. I did do it very slightly different though.

First I used ripit4me wizard mode and let it bring up dvddecrytper and rip the disk. Then when dvddecrypter was done, I skipped out of the rest of the ripit4me steps. So you don't do the fixvts thing or the cleaner thing or any of that. You just close it all after the initial rip.

Then you use clonedvd2. Take the middle option to clone a dvd. Click the browse button and go to where you ripped the files to. Then choose the dvd+-r9 thing for 100% quality. Then you uncheck any crap you don't want 15 to 99 for sure, and then maybe the ads and such too. This probably won't work if you don't uncheck 99, so make sure you do that. Then on the screen you can uncheck any audio or subtitles you don't want if desired. Then it will copy to it's output directory.

Then to be 100% sure of the best quality I used dvdshrink to do the compression. You just do open files, choose the directory where the clonedvd2 output is. Then you will notice you don't have to mess with anything because you already got rid of what you didn't want inthe clonedvd2 step. So then if you have nero dvdshrink will burn it with that automatically and if not, well you probably know what to do from here I would hope.
