Sorry can't blame this one on Sony LOL
Lions Gate Entertainment is a Canadian based company. Sad, but true.

You're right Blinkie, a lot of dvd players will most likely have problems playing the originals.

@paschal93, I have not used DVDFab in a long time and I don't currently have it installed at my PC. I'd suggest that you just follow the same steps to back up these films as I did, hey I did use RipIt4Me which is free and you could use FixVTS where I used CloneDVD2 2.9.0.3 for the same final result.:p

You've got the right program, but I think you may have a few things mixed up. FixVTS is for processing the ripped files so they will be DVD compliant. CloneDVD2 is a transcoder, much like Recode2, DVDCoopy5, and Shrink. Plus there's more to RI4M than just DVD Decrypter, they're all important for getting the job done. RI4M controls the other programs, but it also does it's part in the PSL creation and file cleanup. The FixVTS processes the video files for compliance. Shrink serves 2 purposes, it tests the files for compliance with the quick analysis. If the analysis works, you can usually rely on the files being good. Shrink is also a good transcoder. At this point the files can be transcoded with Shrink and burned with Decrypter or you can transcode with your choice of software, in your case CloneDVD, and burn with whatever gets the job done. But always set up RI4M by having the last version of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed. Then install RI4M with FixVTS. Currently make sure the latest version of FixVTS is installed. If not download it and replace the version in the RI4M program folder. Yesterday 1.6.0.3 was available (download here at AD) and the RI4M installer was still using 1.6.0.2. RI4M is a complete package and isn't intended for use without all the parts. But once the files have been cleaned up and processed, you can use whatever software you feel comfortable with to transcode and burn.

321 was finally getting the software to work about the time "Uncle" shut them down.
Do they still have an XCopy forum here at AD?

I was just wondering. The only thing I'd use from the list of XCopy programs is the XRescue. A friend of mine was doing backups (with XCopy) not long ago that was causing problems for the newer software. Good program, but the ripper got 321 in trouble. They should have had that ripperless software sooner and included a few utilities like the companies that are now getting away with selling similar software.

I'm with you alkohol. I think the whole Saw 3 thing is blown out of proportion. The release isn't even till next week and so far we've been able to back up all of our movies.

So far we have RI4M, and the offerings from DVDIdle and Slysoft handling the protections from the different studios. As long as we have the "Big 3", we can Git-R-Done. LOL

@PacMan777, In a sentence.:p Your right, I forgot to mentioned Shrink. Which I didn't use but RipIt4me references SHRINK as an option to process the completed file through. Anybody having anyluck backing up SAW III or OPEN SEASON with any other decrypting software, besides RipIt4Me? Free or otherwise.:p

I just ripped Saw 3 with DVD Decrypter and the latest version of RipIt4Me. Their website specifically remarked on fixing Saw 3.

Besides transcoding, the Shrink is also a test tool with RI4M. I don't remember if I mentioned it here, but the quick analysis feature of Shrink tests the files for compliance. After the test (quick analysis), Shrink doesn't have to be used for transcoding. At that point the files can be used in any copy software.

i know this is not totally relevant but anyidea why the backup of saw 3 that i made i cant make another backup of it using the backup. i figured with all the problems we are having i should make two and i couldnt using the backup so i just used the files that were on my drive to do it. but now i dont want to delete the files on my harddrive yet incase, my kids sure do ruin alot of discs around here lol. i guess to make it easier i cant make a backup of my backup lol

In the newbie section they cover that over and over. When copying unprotected DVDs the only thing needed is the copy program from any of the recording suites.

How were you trying to do it?
