    @gatlingun

    AnyDVD and clonedvd did the movie only burn without any updates the night the movie came out. You should have been able to do it also. Glad you got it done.

    to all: It was not necessary to run files thru fixvts to get movie done using latest version of Fab DVD the files opened fine in shrink if I remember correctly. I'll try it again to see.

    @thugbear

    Unless you have the platinum version of DVD Fab it does not recode the movie you must use something else like shrink, Nero Recode or clone DVD! You can tho, choose the movie only or full disc option in the free version. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this since I rarely use Fab.Sometimes choosing movie only will get the movie at 100% and no recoding will be needed.

    You have spoken true Sir Creaky.

    @thugbear
    Garmoon is right, try doing movie only and if it still needs to be compressed process through Shrink, or Recode.

    thats true on some movies and alot of times you can make the file even smaller by running it though fixvts vob blanker and PgcEdit removing the junk. I've seen movies shrink another 1 or 2 gig using all these

    DVDFab Gold worked like a champ for me and didn't give me those bogus huge titles. Good luck everyone.

    iluvendo,
    if I may ask you a question? I too had a problem with Saw4 hence ending up here.
    I'm in the process of updating my programs(as recomended here) from the"DvdDecrypter-Rit4Me-FixVTS-Shrink" process to the newer DvdFab-ImgBurn programs,if DvdFab works as good as everybody says it does I'll buy it. But,I thought Fixit also removed alot of the undesirables?Or did I just misunderstand the explinations of it? Please keep in mind I'm a simpleton when it comes to the indepth software programs explaniations :).
    Is the VOB blanker a must? Up to recently I ran FitIt on all my back ups and never had any problems until the last few months with the process when the back ups became hit and miss.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    ""fixvts will correct the file so dvd shrink can handle it. so rip with dvdfab decrypter clean the file with fixvts then transcode with dvd shrink""

    ""And don't forget vob blanker to remove all the undesirables (known and unknown)""

    you don't have to buy dvdfab decrypter its freeware you can buy dvdfab platinum same program its just a i click process.

    use this guide for the freeware version (dvdfab decrypter, fixvts,dvd shrink,imgburn)

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/494836

    use this guide for dvdfab platinum (pay program)

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/480846#2943243

    and yes fixvts cleans the file further so dvd shrink won't have trouble transcoding it (its not a must with every movie though)

    and no you don't necessarily have to use vob blanker

    Chris

    1) fixvts is a program that helps cleanup the table of contents (TOC) so that dvd shrink can work with and out put so that a dvd plaver can play well. Screwing up the TOC is a method of copy protection.

    2) vob blanker allows one to blank out undesirables and cettain hidden files ( files that u can see but have no video value-remain black). I believe these black files ( as seen on the preview screen are really hidden subroutines that control your pc so that u cannot back up the movie, this is perhaps why shrink crashes.Good Luck Chuck had such a file of 190Mb in it that when opened by vob blanker froze my pc. Just blanking it allowed me to back up no sweat. That 190 Mb file cranked my cpu usage to 100% on a core 2 duo machine.

    My method

    1) rip with dvdfabhd
    2)use fixvts full disc (I back up full disc)
    3) use vob blanker
    4) use dvd shrink ( output file as iso )
    5) burn with imgburn
    6) drink cup of coffee or brewski
    7) Success and enjoy movie

    Hope this helps Chris

    Wow, I read all the guides on fab and others etc. man as great as those programs must be for many reasons, especially the freebies which is a big plus I'm sure, but I'll tell ya, after that extensive read, I thank the big guy upstairs for clone and anydvd.

    nice one; most that come here post duplicate threads all over the place and when pointed to the right place won't take the time to read the previous pages and workarounds in the thread; it gets highly annoying for those of us that strive to keep the place lean and clean for those that need the help

    Thanks guys,
    as usual I get all the help I need here. I used the dvdfab today and got perfect back ups of saw4 and 3:10 to yuma.
    I'm gonna miss ripit4me, I loved how simple it was to use, but see no need for it any longer.
    Thanks again,
    Chris

    You don't have to give up ripit4me. It will still work on a lot of movies. The trick is to accumulate the various programs out there and be able to use them in getting the harder discs done.:)

    Hmmmm...well that makes sense. I am close to taking the Liteon 16x drive back. It has worked fine up to now. Actually I think I will. I appreciate you replying.
