Karen i was thinking about starting a thread just for new hard to do releases? that we could sticky? then update the thread title from week to week? what do ya think
Not a bad idea! The only problem comes in when someone searches by movie - if the title has been updated they might not find the thread.
Just to let everyone know, the only way I got the United States version of Saw IV to rip and burn was using anydvd and clone dvd. Any other way didn't work. I am watching it now and it works great. You can only select one video or the other. One will throw up an error, if that happens, use the other one.
There's a new beta out for AnyDVD - AnyDVD Beta 6.3.10. It's the version I'll be using for this movie unless the release another one b/4 I pick it up
Let's hope so No mention of Saw IV in any of the beta releases though - just some previous releases that I had no problems w/. Change log for the latest beta (kinda lengthy): 6.3.1.0 2008 01 20 - New: Added "Create Logfile" menu, removed "enable logging" from settings - New: Autoplay is no longer triggered, if settings are changed or AnyDVD is disabled / enabled. - New (DVD): Added hooking of the IDvdInfo2::GetDiscID interface. All 32-bit applications which use DiscIDs will retrieve the correct DiscID, even if AnyDVD is running (e.g., Windows MCE 2005, Windows Media Player, Invelos DVD Profiler, MyMovies, etc.) Note: This feature might not work correctly with X-Protect or other heavily corrupted discs. Blame the manufacturer of the disc.... This feature is currently only supported for 32-bit applications. - New (DVD): AI Scanner has now different settings, "Disabled", Automatic" or "Enabled" - New (DVD): Added support for new protection, e.g., "Mr. Woodcock", R1, US - New (DVD): Added support for new copy protection, e.g. "Paheli", R2, Germany - New (DVD): Added support for new copy protection, e.g. "Whisper", R2, Germany - New (DVD): Added support for new copy protection found on some adult titles to the AnyDVD ripper - New (DVD): Improved performance of the AI scanner. - Fix (DVD): Problems with "Shoot 'Em Up", R1, US - Fix (DVD): AnyDVD ripper removed parts of the Audio Test of "Ratatouille", R1, US. - Fix (DVD): AI Scanner missed one chapter of the full frame version on "Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)", R1, US - Fix (DVD): IFOTitles 2 error with some Macrovision RipGuard protected titles, e.g. "Funny Factory with Mickey - Volume 1", R1, US - Some minor fixes and improvements - Updated languages
Hi all, long time reader, but this is my first post.. I think I have found another alternative to get around Saw 4 with Ripit4Me. when the program reads the disc and gives you the box that shows the options to choose 'full movie' or 'menu and movie' etc. Where it displays the title of the disc, there are brackets around the title. these thing: '<' '>' Now, normally, RipIt4Me gives the error 'can't create target directory' but that's because it's trying to create a folder name that starts with a bracket. By deleting the brackets from the movie title field on the option box, I was then able to select 'movie and menu' and rip the movie. I then used shrink to open the files and burn it to disc. I'm watching it now, and about an hour into the movie, it seems to have worked. I remember there was another movie that had this about a year ago and it was all just the brackets around the title.
I think that was the same remedy for Saw III. I think we all have it covered though. Everyone here has seemed to figure it out. I'm gonna try the new AnyDVD beta that binkie provided. I just picked up the movie.
Well, I was just trying to offer another soultion that made use of the free software out there. The only solutions I was seeing posted were anydvd/clonedvd (which are great programs, I also use anydvd myself) but was just trying to point out other solutions for people that may not have been aware of the 'delete the brackets' work around.
No worries! That latest AnyDVD beta didn't work (6310). It was an error while ripping. I'm trying the new DVDFab 4051 now.
That beta DVDFab 4051 successfully ripped the entire disc. I then ran those files through VOBB to blank even more crap I don't want (trailers, music video etc.). After that, opening it up in Shrink produced a whole lot of red. It was weird because I normally have Shrink set up to compress the files to 4465 mb but it was unable to do so (files are too large). What's funnier is that the language tracks were all single digits with the biggest one only 7 mb. Back on the slysoft forum, they said to use CloneDVD and untick title 25 (if you want to do a full backup with AnyDVD 6309 and CloneDVD 2914) but there wasn't a title 25 because DVDFab probably did its job. Anyway, it's currently working on my desktop so we'll see what happens. EDIT: Successful backup! DVDFab 4051 to rip. Vobb to blank the trash I don't want. CloneDVD 2914 to compress and burn. AnyDVD6310 was running the entire time.
@Toymaker7 Thanks for posting that info!! @0nslaught lol - good one! @Mr_Pink Thanks for the heads up! I'm downloading the beta of CloneDVD - CloneDVD beta 2.9.1.5. Will use this & also uncheck title 25. Now I just need to get my butt in gear and pick up the movie
i cant even get DVD fab 4 to finish the process where it scans the DVD right when you open the program. anyone else have that issue?
I just got it copied. Did the movie only, but that's all I want. I used DVDFab 4.0.3.5 beta to rip it. While it was opening the disc it gave me an error but I chose "Abort" and it went on through. Once saved to the hard drive I burned it with DVD Shrink. Appears to have worked fine. I looked through it very quickly when it was done. Will watch it tonight and see if it turned out ok. There are two titles showing when you select the "movie only" option. One is about 1:33:00 and the other is 1:43:00. I used the shorter of the two b/c that was the length of the movie on the original disc. I'll repost tonight if it did not copy correctly. Otherwise, this worked fine for me. B.D.52
couldn't rip with the latest beta version of anydvd. so i used dvdfab decrypter (latest beta version) cleaned with fixvts then ran it though the latest beta version of clonedvd 2 and burned worked fine. BTW I did the shorter of the two titles also
Yes, you do need to run this one through FixVTS. After ripping this one R1 with DVDFab HD Decrypter, Shrink reports a full disc compression of 79.1%. After running it through FixVTS it reports 55.5%.
