My girlfriends laptop which as the klite mega codec pack installed on it started displaying the embedded subtitles in MPC 6.4.9 all of a sudden. I haven't changed any of the settings that deal with subtitles, and I know she doesn't know how to. I tried going into the options and I couldn't even find a way to turn on or off the subtitles but only to adjust them. I've reinstalled the codec pack with no luck. She is running xp service pack 2 and she has the mega codec pack installed and nero vision express 3 installed with nero show time. The subtitles do not show in nero showtime, or in media player 11. Neither of us like showtime or media player 11, so any help would be much appreciated.

Assuming these aren't permanent subs, go the folder where the video file
resides and delete or separate the .srt file from it.

Then in that case you can just simply go to the Main Menu Setup to disable subs...

I do not see an option for that in media player classic, are we talking about the same version....she has 6.4.9. It happens on all DVDs and it isn't the DVDs subtitles, its the media players. The DVDs are not turned on in the DVD on screen menu. If I do turn the subtitles on through the on screen DVD menu, there is 2 sets of subtitles.

I found a way to fix it finally I still do not know what started it, but the problem was with using the ffdshow codec for the dvd. I used gabest instead. Thx for all the help anyways pryme.
