Hi, Just got a genuine (I hope!) Box Super and am trying to download the GTRom_Super_705e software onto it. I open the .exe on my PC and I select the Download button, the %age screen pops up for about 8 seconds but it stays on 0% and I then get an error pop up message "Flash Update Fail". Tried on Com port 1 to 4 but when on com 2 to 4 I get a message saying it cannot open Serial Port. Can anyone help?

The RS232 cable may be faulty... I've also got a RS232 to USB cable but not sure how the PC will know to download from the USB instead of RS232 port. Tried this cable but got same messages.

    Thanks.

The rs232 cable will NOT work , You need a NULL MODEM CABLE as it has different wiring instead and has cross-over config which is need to update the b0x .

Just bought the correct cable from Maplin but it still doesn't work. I get the same message as before. I must be doing something wrong.I downloaded the GTRom_Super_705e file from "Dooby2oon". Unzipped the file to a directory and it only unpacks as a .exe (there is no Bin file to select.) When I run it the "The Box Super" screen appears. It defaults to Serial Port:Com1 and Baud Rate: 115200. The Bin File field is low lighted as the File Type is "App File Only" I press download and then I get the "FLash Update Fail" message.

When Im doing all this the box has "On" on the display.. I've also tried all of the above when I've turned it off and the time is displayed. Any help greatly appreciated!

Put the b0x on standby , the 7.05 has the bin (its an all inone loader)

All you do is when the b0x is on Standby(12:00) just hit Download , wait till the b0x reboots and then disconnect

Unfortunatly this is what I've been doing.. I must have tried it about 30 times now.. Everytime on Com1 I get the same message... the download stays at 0%.. there is no progress bar.. then the popup comes up with the message. I've left the message there for about 20 mintes but the only way to get out of it is to click on one of the 2 options "Retry" or "Cancel"

Could it be my serial port on the PC.. I've gone into Device Manager and it says there's a Com1 Communications port available.. and when I change it to Com 2, I then have to select Com 2 on the Box Super software to get the "download progress window" up so it must be recognising it?

Are you just using the NULL MODEM CABLE or are you using it with the USB Adapter ?

I've got both.. I bought the Null Modem Cable today and tried that on my PC..

I've also got a USB cable with a 9 pin female end on it which I've tried on my laptop (I borrowed this so I don't know if this is a Null Modem Cable version.. if there is such a thing with a USB cable)

THe only difference I get between the two cables is that the error message doesn't appear when I use the USB cable.. the pop up box comes up with 0% with no progress bar and it just stays like that... I left it for 30 mins and then cancelled it.. Tried it on different USB ports on my laptop too but it only pops up the 0% on Com 3. Com 1,2 and 4 go straigh into error.

The only thing I can think of it that you have the RS 232 cable and that would give you the error or stuck at 0% , You need a NULL MODEM CABLE as I mentioned above

Ive still got the box it came in as I only bought it yesterday and it says "Serial Lead [Null Modem]" and "Null Modem serial connection lead" on it..

I think the box is faulty. I've tried everything else! Thanks for all your help with this.

just because the packet says null modem doesn't mean it is one. it may just be an rs232 and boxes can't have a fault with software or else they wouldn't work at all because they couldn't be flashed.

As said Tony turning FIFO off may cause more trouble than its worth in the long run, as it is more associated to CRC errors. Turning the baud rate to the specified settings would have helped. As you can see I helped you elsewhere ;)

Peeps just to let you know that the Starview 3 Super have still got the problems with the rebooting this is only on the new boxes with the new tuners and the v8.00 does not rectify this problem either

Best advice is to not buy this box until they have sorted out this problem and choose another box this way they will see the sales going down and will sort the problem out otherwise we will be left waiting

I had a Starview 2 which is why the v7 package wouldn't download. Now got a Starview 3 and it worked straight away.

Hey guy's sorry to butt in on the thread, I don't suppose anyone could direct me to a thread or help me out with my problem? I'm trying to load a clone with CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin using GTRom Loader 4.0 and I've tried absolutely everything but the most I've managed is 23% then the box seems to reset and the process fails. The funny thing is after the reset the box just goes back to the way it was before no crash or freeze or anything. Any help would be really appreciated please, thnx in advance

Did I mention that the reason it doesn't complete is because it reboots!
