Hello, I just reformatted my computer no prob with that but now I cant find my storage drive. I have a 1Tb (G drive) just for storage and a 750 GB Partitioned HDD(C,D Drives)to run windows, anyways what im trying to get at is now that im all done reformatting, my computer wont pick up the (G drive) there's no icon in the my computer but in the bios in start up the computer knows its there. I also went to my other computer and plugged the 1 TB HDD into it and that computer picked it right up so I know there's nothing wrong w/ the HDD just my computer wont pick it up. If anyone can HELP i wold be really grateful
Firstly is the TB drive internal or external? secondly which version of windows is on the new & old computer? if the TB drive is external, connected via a usb cable, it may be the usb port requires any updated driver, but once you plug it in it should automatically detect the new hardware & search for a driver for it. if internal, have you tried turning off the secondary HD in the bios, starting the machine, do all the usual software updates. then when the computer is fully upto date, turn back on the secondary HD, and see does this resolve your problem! also have you check you have cables to hard drives & motherboard correctly & jumper switches set correctly on both Hard Drives?? failing all that would you not consider using the TB HD as the main HD in the computer?
Ok lets see both HDD are internal and my computer the one that was reformatted has windows XP. The other computer the one i tested the HDD on has vista. I haven't really tried anything but plugging the HDD into the other computer (vista) to see if it worked, and to plug the SATA cabal in a different slots on my motherboard to see it maybe the slot failed. So how can i go into mycomputer to look for the HDD Thanks Andrew
