ok this is for a freakin genius! nobody i know can figure this out and we've been in the pc game for awhile, im no pro but im not an idiot, you decide ok, to start off i have a total of 5 hdd's 2 ide and 3 sata all 3 sata are Western Digital the 2 ide's are seagate which range from 200 gb's (partitioned) and one 500 gig (unpartitioned) (excuse my grammar ive been up for 2 days)well a couple weeks ago i got that damn `resycled`boot.com worm in my system, symantic and sypsweeper unfortunatly didnt block it, and upon trying to remove the files it installed i accidently removed an autoexec on a drive my system wasnt on but it caused xp to crash so i reformatted the ide drive (that my sytem was on) it wouldnt allow me to install xp on the drive (bsod) i borrowed a friends ide drive and voila it worked, but one problem, none of my sata drives will show up on my computer (i might add i bought a WD6400aa 640 gb sata drive to run xp on to get better performance) to kill all common answers my mobo is an asus A8R-MVP AMD Athlon 64 3700+ . ive been to the asus website and downloaded all updated drivers i turned off overclocking so i run at 2.21GHz 3.07 GB of RAM (huh i had 3.25 before?)actuall total 4gb of ddr (yeah i know a little outdated. anyways ive installed xp numerous times and yes its a legit copy and my sata drives always showed up with no problems i might also add my blu ray drive is sata, the only probs i had before was i had a sata drive not show up every now and then after a reboot and some wire jiggling it would show up? when i start a fresh bood my sata drives show up on my bios and boot up screen and in xp they show up in system management but i cant do anything with them it searches for a driver and as far as i know ive installed every sata driver for my drives out there, but i never had to do that before so why now? and yes in my bios i turned up the sata drives? Im looking forward to ditching the ide drives and install xp on the new sata wd6400aa drive! im stumped any body out there pleeeeasse helllpppp this is 3 days from going into the trash p.s. ive checked all plugs everything is fine when i unpluged my sata cable i got a popup window in xp saying sata power unplugged so i know its there i just need my computer to find it so i can use my drives
Have you checked disk management? There could be a drive letter conflict causing them not to show up in 'my computer' even when they are installed. Start-Run and type diskmgmt.msc Check if all five of your HDDs show up.
bird760, you already have a thread about that problem in this link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/719285 thread closed due to multiposting.
