sorry scouser- i work nights and was called in early yest so i missed your reply.yes it is the box and its coming up as 2.60.that any good to you mate?
You need to update the firmware as it will not descramble "all" channels with that firmware and you will not be able to get into the CAS menu. Are you in Ireland or the UK?
im in ireland thing is i dont have the port on my pc for the cable.ive just tried using a usb adaptor for the rs cable but it aint showing up on my pc.ive ran the driver for my new adaptor and IT seems to be working fine.im stumped mate?
You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F your's may look similar but it might not be the correct one. Null modem info here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx...t10&doy=search&MenuName=USB to Serial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library. You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link. You will need version 4.50 firmware, (there is a later one but I find this one is fine), found in "The Box" firmware folder. And please download the Starview PDF guide,(similar instructions as to "The Box" guide), this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link. To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to your gtromloader and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected. If you need drivers go here http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm
certainly looks like the same cable-i contacted who i bought it off and he assures me that he sent the correct cable.is there a difference between the rs232 cable and your null modem cable DB9F to DB9F? cheers for the rest of the info,i have it saved and will come in handy im sure as soon as i sort this cable business. by the way scouse-are you blue or red?
Two types of RS232 cables one has a straight through pin out, whereas the null modem type has a cross over pin out, (pins 2 and 3 are crossed). You can check this with a multimeter. Only a null modem cable will work. Have to leave now, but any problems just shout. BTW I am a red
thanks for all your help scouse-ur a true gent lending all your time.im as red as they come as well mate so i hope to christ we pull it outa the bag tonight.
