Heller everyone. I recently uninstalled windows xp home editon from from my computer. Now i'm trying to re-install it and it says that a program is blocking me from reinstalling it. It is calling the program Microsoft Shared Fax Client. I've gone to the add/remove programs options and don't see that prgram and i've done a search for it and still don't see it. CAN SOME 1 please help me.~
huh? What do you mean "uninstalled" it. YOu need to format your Window partition or run the recovery part of the disk.
i originally had windows ME on this computer, then i installed windows xp HE from a burned copy of it. I ran into some technical issues and went back to my old version of windows by removing xp from the add/remove programs list. I now have an original copy of xp HE, but like i said the advisor is saying that a program called Microsoft shared fax client must be removed b4 i can install windows xp. How do i format my window partion?
The advisor tell me that i have to REMOVE the program Microsoft shared client. But i can't find that progrom or a program that is related to it, where can i find the program or the program it is reffereing to?
@rav009: He stated that he does have an original now. @cazmack: Go to Add/Remove programs under control panel. Then go to add/remove windows components. You should be able to uncheck the Fax services from there. You will probably have to reboot after you make these changes. If it were me, I would strip Windows down to nothing. I would remove ALL of the options under Add/Remove Components, reboot and do the upgrade. Well, actually, I would back up my data and do a fresh install if it were my machine, but we are trying to fix your issue here. Let us know what happens. ~Rich
If you have an original copy of XP just boot from the CD and format the partition. It’s way easier to just start with a clean slate… If you don’t have an original copy of the disc there are ways around that.
Alright I will, Im in the process of backing up all my important files to another HD. I will try a fresh install in a couple of days.
