Cant find TOC

I have DVD's backed up to a external drive, when I try to burn a copy it goes thru the process and then pop's up cant find/read TOC. Anyone have the same or similar issue.

Burn a copy? DVD Shrink doesn't burn by itself, it triggers Nero or ImgBurn to do the work. Is it a DVD file or an .avi file you are trying to burn.
Please explain your process step by step.

 

Thats right, now for the rest of the story, it has been a while so bear with me. DVD Decrypter does the burning or used to. It is the one that says cant recover TOC. I think I tried image burn and it said the same thing but it has been a while. Parents are ailing and been taking care of them so havent had much time to keep up. It was a folder labled Video_TS, it has the usual .VOP .BUP I open it in Shrink and hit backup it goes thru the analyizing process, then Decrypter pops up and says at the bottom of the Decrypter window ...Device Not Ready [unable to recover TOC]. Then when i go back to the external drive it puts a file on the drive labled .ISO of the DVD that I am trying to burn. The original file is still there unaltered. I apperciate your time and advice.

Honestly, i havent used DVD Decrypter in a looong time, ImgBurn was made by the same author and really is an upgrade. You say the files are on your hard drive as VIDEO_TS, if i remember right decrypter only burns .ISO files. If you use ImgBurn you can make an ISO out of your video_TS and burn. Or you can use Nero or any other program that burns VIDEO_TS files.

 

Try Ripping The DVD With DFab, Then Burn With Imgburn.

I'm Sure That Will Fix Things.

The DVD's were ripped with the program "AnyDVD" program from Flysoft.I do not have access to the DVD's anymore just have a butt load on a external drive. Tried to burn an ISO with Imgburn last night and it still said the same thing about the TOC.

An update, I tried to burn a DVD that I have already burnt and it still says device not ready cant retrive TOC.....pulling my hair out on this one.

 

I have been reading all over the place and I have yet to see anything about a TOC problem. I will keep at it, but if anyone has an idea, Please let me know.

1. What is the model of DVD/CD burner? Check for the exact model in your device manager.
2. What is the brand and rated speed of blank DVD you try to burn onto?

A quick google shows most these issues have to do with the burner not liking the blank.

 

The burner is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532M and the Media is HP DVD-R 16x.

The PC is a HP Pavilion dv4000, I never had problems with it before. It has been a while since I burnt a movie, but it used to work good.

This is what it says in ImgBurn Log.

 

Open ImgBurn Goto Tools>Drive>Check for Firmware updates

A window will open telling you it is going to the firmware page and gives you the firmware revision for your drive. Make note of it, then go to the page and find the most recent firmware it lists for you.

 

Exactly How Old Is The Burner?

Could You Post The Entire Failed Burn Log?

Can You ReRip The Movie Files With DVDFab, Then Try To Burn Them With Imgburn?

In DFab, Use the Movie File as The Source and the Target As An ISO File to Another New Folder On The Hard Drive. Then Burn With Imgburn.


If That Fails Try To Clean Your Laser On Your Burner.


You May Also Want to Get Some 8X -R Disc, Instead Of Those 16X Disc.

 

I occasionally have the same problem once the DVD is about to be verified. I eject the DVD, pop it back in, and evidently the TOC is found, and it continues on to verify.

 

Again, I correct the problem by just re-inserting the DVD. To backup my DVDs, I use DVDFab, then DVD Shrink, then DVD Decrypter. The TOC message pops up after the DVD is burned, when it goes into verification. Once I eject the DVD and re-insert it, the verification goes on until the whole process is completed (successfully).

 

It dosent generate a failed burn log because as soon as I open DVDdecrypter or Imgburn it say's at the very bottom of the window can't retrieve TOC. Cant rerip them dont have the DVD's anymore. I have some ISO files and it still say's the same thing. Gonna try to update the Firmware will also clean Laser. Gotta go pull a service in for the inlaws so I can get to it this afternoon.

I believe it is a Toshiba drive. If that makes a difference.

 

Update...tryed the firmware and could not find it either..ejected the dis and put it back in and no luck...the go to looking around and found a package of the same media only it is a DVD+R and put the disc in and it says device ready..imagin that..gonna let it burn while I go pull some wire and will update you guys...keepin my fingers crossed

 

Sucess!!! it was the damn media. Sent the kid to town that time to get new blanks, and they got DVD-R instead of DVD+R. Not saying I would not have done that myself as you would think it would take either one right. So I guess my drive likes the + better.

I thought a firmware update would help "see" the other discs, but i guess that burner is old because i couldnt find any support either. Out of curiosity, are the new discs also 16x speed or were they the older 8x?
Either way, glad you found the issue and have a work-around.
