I have been using DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, DVD Shrink, DVD Fab 5, AGK and GK to back-up my DVDs and create avi's to transfer to my ZEN and everything has worked fine. Then I decided to try NERO 7. I decided to remove the NERO and use what I ahd been using. I uninstalled it, used the Nero clean tool and restarted my PC. But all of the ripping programs rip the vob in a neroshowtime.files7.vob format. How can get rid of this? I don't think they were being ripped in this format before I installed NERO. I did a search on all of my HDDs for nero and show to make sure there were no remnants and the clean tool showed nothing else was there either. I even removed all of the ripping programs and reinstalled, but still the nero vob formats are being created when I rip. Any suggestions?
When you installed Nero, there were several dialogue boxes along the way to install, and that you had to tick or check. If you installed without actually looking carefully (no disrespect) then I think you'll find that Nero had/has associated itself with certain file types. This association, as it implies, becomes the Default. Why you still get newer files with the Nero-showtime icon, after the un-install, we'll get too after. Go through the settings of your current player, and you should find a box to check "files associated with" etc. If you're worried at all about files previous to the Nero install and their icons... all will change and play well, when you default to the player you want. There can be almost no question of Nero being around as you used the removal tool (nice one btw). Check your settings thoroughly. Cheers.
