Using the tactics give in a previous topic I uninstalled it and rebooted and it's still off.

What do you mean DMA still Off? Meaning you've "uninstalled" your DVD burner or CD/DVD-ROM and it still shows in PIO mode or Off mode? Try the following to bring DMA back on.

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" its driver “for Win XP users” by alkohol))

Here are some helpful pictures for references.

    A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER," left click on "PROPERTIES"

    B) left click on "HARDWARE," left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"

    C) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
    [IMG]

    D) double left click on either “Primary” or “Secondary IDE Channel”

    E) left click on "DRIVER," left click on "UNINSTALL"
You will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system," just click "OK," now "SHUTDOWN" or "Restart" your computer
    F) once you restarted your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner’s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

**NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "Uninstall" it from the “DVD/CD-ROM Drives”

    ****at Device Manager****
    (A) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
    (B) double left click on your DVD burner or your DVD-ROM drive
    (C) click on "DRIVER," "UNINSTALL," "OK" and then "Shutdown" or "Restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!

    @amosco13

When you click on both "Primary or Secondary Channel" then "Advanced Settings" what does it says? If it doesn't said DMA, then you need to click on "Driver" tab and "uninstall" the driver. Below is what it should looks like, if your DMA is On (for both Primary & Secondary Channel)

    ******* Primary Channel ********

    ******* Secondary Channel ********

I have 2 secondary a master and a slave and I tried this already and it re installed the hardware and it was still in PIO. The option for DMA is there but even when I switch it and hit ok it dosen't apply.

hi (again). 'fraid i've requested this thread be closed as you've multiposted it here too - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/259562#1460964

your problem(s) with your Nero setup are being answered there and the guys (and myself) can get you up and burning in no time, but pls don't raise numerous threads for the same problem. it's against forum rules and incredibly frustrating for those who want to help you as we gotta sift thru numerous different threads
