I have recently reformatted my Dell Dimension E510 and when I tried to reinstall my OS using the disc provided it says there is no boot drive or something. When I put in a XP disc it loads something then locks up. What can I do to get a new OS loaded onto this thing? What else can I try. I did change the boot sequence but did I miss another step or something?

Your boot order is probably incorrect...double check that it is set to boot to cdrom first, and your hard drive second. Also make sure it isn't trying to boot to any USB devices.

It says, "No boot device available - strike F1 to retry to boot, F2 for setup utility." I have set the BIOS boot sequence to 1. Onboard or USB CD-Rom drive the other say "not present" beside them with the exception of 3. Onboard SATA Hard Drive. Now before I did this we had a problem like I have never seen. The disc drives disappeared. They were in the bios but could not find them anywhere in windows. I took it to a Buddy who knows more than I about computers and when he plugged it in they were both there and functioning properly. When I got it back they were working but the CPU was real slow so I decided to reformat. And that is how I got where I am. Any more ideas? Thanks again!
