    Hi,

I've been using the free version of Zone Alarms as recommended by this forum for a while.

Howevever I recently had difficulties installing the new IE7 (I still can't install this) and Microsoft advised me one troubleshooting way was to remove my firewall completely by unisntalling Zone Alarms. While this did not work, I've now downloaded the Zone Alarms exe again but it won't install!! It comes up with this error message:

"Setup is unable to log into the TrueVector service. Install cannot continue without logging into the TrueVector service. Please use the service manager to shut down the TrueVector service and the restart the installer prorgamme."

Can anyone help me please? I've re-started my computer a number of times as well as tried in Safe Mode, but nothing works...I really miss/need Zone Alarms!!

    Thanks in advance
    Zippy

Start > Run > type services.msc > click OK. Find TrueVector Internet Monitor and double click it. Beside Startup type click the drop down arrow and select Disabled. Close Service then, try running the installer.

    Panic over.

I basically searched my computer for Zone Labs, and two other folders came up (one of which was in System32).

I deleted all traces of ZL and it then installed fine )

    Thanks!
