tried three dirrerent hd two sata one reg,when it gets to where window xp starts to load shuts down hard.iam pretty sure i got bios right,load from cd only goes through setup just fine then on the os install crashes tried all i know can anyone help?thanks.
remove the ram & use a pencil eraser on the gold contacts of the ram than reseat the ram. try using 1 stick of ram at a time to see if 1 might be bad.
nope,took out both sticks,replaced it 512mg. that i had in my computor stuff,same thing.tried diff power supply wasnt it.flashing the bios again? dont know.it started with a virous that macfee pict. up when i did the scan promt.it shut down. thats it.so much for that virous protection.cant get it to load even to scrub the hd,thanks for your input ddp,any other sug: would be appricated okie.
Somethin' rotten with your harddisk(s), OKIE. I recommend your one regular HD (IDE) as master on the Primary controller. It should be blank, unpartitioned/unformatted. Ensure your BIOS setup is all 100% perfect (Wim's BIOS is an excellent resource for this) http://www.wimsbios.com Then run your install from CD. Windows will claim the IDE harddisk and call it C:\ If the HD is bigger than 32MB, Windows will want to use NTFS. Your SATA drives don't even have to be there - introduce them into your setup later, after they are virus-scanned and disinfected. Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along... L8R
