Cant mode b using slax 2.1 on Hitachi 79

Hey guys!

Im trying to get my Hitachi 79 in mode B using Slax 2.1 with a VIA 6421 chipset. Slax goes through all the messages/prompts but never shows a spinning up disc line. The xbox never shows any signs of being in mode b either.

Ive made sure the raid drivers are disabled and updated the sata drivers (shows up in device manager as a VIA RAID Controller-3249(not sure if this matters)Ive tried booting the xbox before, during, and after Slax loads. Ive basically done everything I can think of other than smashing my face into it.

It doesnt seem like Slax is recognizing the XBOX at all. Ive seen other post on the net about this but I havent been able to find any solutions. Any help would be really appreciated!!!
