Can't mount 1 of 2 InCD DVD+RW I have created. Perhaps I somehow ejected the DVD and did not wait long enough for it to do whatever it does for 60 seconds. I had copyed data to this 2.4x DVD+RW using Windows before installing Nero InCD but I formatted the Disk with InCD and it was working fine on two different machines with me copying data to it on a couple of occassions. Is there anything I can try to Recover Data? When I insert the DVD in either of my PC's it sort of hangs the machine (not 100%) and I have to eject the drive to get back to normal operation. I have never used Nero CD-DVD Speed but thought I would try to use it to run ScanDisk against the DVD but it hangs as soon as I inject the DVD Drive with this DVD. Do you think copying the disk with CloneDVD or something might recover the data?
Thanks for trying to help, but like everything else. ISOBuster will hang when trying to read the InCD DVD+RW. InCD takes about 60 seconds to do something with the disk everytime you want to eject the drive (even if you haven't written anything to it I think). I think I pushed the physical eject button on the side of my notebook, and unlike my desktop system I don't think InCD was able to 'prevent' the eject until it was doing whatever it does. Any other suggestions? The loss of this particular data is not a life & death situation. However it was my second InCD project & also my second DVD+RW or any kind of RW experience. I burn tons of CDR's and a lesser number of DVD's but never a RW for backup purposes. I have only bought one batch of R+W disks in my life, CompUSA 2.4x 25 pack. This experience has made me nervous about InCD as well as RW in terms of reliability versus CDR or DVD+R.
Hello. I'm not a fan of InCD and usually recommend against people even installing it since it can cause problems burning regular DVDs. Is there a reason you want to use InCD? It really should be used only if you want and have a need for drag and drop copying. Otherwise, a RW disk should be burned as any other disk with the Burning ROM. If you're doing backup, every mainstream program I'm aware of can burn to DVDs. If you want to uninstall InCD, download the InCD Clean Tool from Nero and run it. You probably should do so anyway if you want to avoid problems burning DVDs with the Burning ROM. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/InCD_CleanTool.html I don't know what version of Nero you have. Some versions are buggy.
I installed it for drag & drop. I have been deleting source files (.ape, .flac) after burning to CD as CDA because I don't have room on my hard drive to keep them. Then I thought I might want these .flac files someday. Just storing my phsical CD collection is getting ridiculous. I thought I would format 26 DVD+RW with InCD and label them A,B,C and offload .flac files for albums soon after I burn them one at a time, e.g. Beethoven to the "B" DVD and so on so I would know where to look for them if I ever want to restore them. As you can see I wouldn't be dumping enough data at one time to fill a whole DVD, not if I want to keep this alphabetical scheme up because I'd have to have 8 gig of "B" material, 8 gig of "C" material, etc. to write out. If I could accumulate that much data on disk I would probably go with DVD+R and just burn a whole "B" DVD+R etc., etc.
You should be able to just burn the files one at a time as needed. Just do a multisession with Nero Burning ROM instead of disk at once. It should work well with RW media. I also never trust any CD or DVD media as my sole backup. Hard drives are so cheap these days, it doesn't hurt to have 'em lying around to archive to.
