Sometimes when I click on an avi file it'll open and sometimes it won't.When it doesn't I get the following message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

I have tried to open it with bsplayer and it doesn't even recognize the avi format.

What can I do to open the file when I get this message?

Can anyone recommend a web page with codes if you feel that this might be the cause of the problem..
    Thanks in advance!
