Whenever I burn a cd using itunes version 9.0.2, it goes through the whole burning process without any errors. After the burning process is complete, my optical drive (SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black PATA Model SH-S202N LightScribe Support - OEM) locks up and I can't open it unless I restart my computer. I am using TDK cd's and I am also running on windos 7 ultimate 32 bit. I would like to be able to open my optical drive without having to restart my computer.

You might check Task Manager to see if the process has failed to exit gracefully.
If it hasn't you can 'End Process' then see if the drive is available.
This example shows a burning program is active.

I have tried ending the process through task manager, but my optical drive is still locked up and won't open.

If you use any other burning program - simply burning data to a disk, does the drive hang?

I just burned a cd using Img Burn and there were no complications with the optical drive locking up. It looks like it only happens after burning with itunes.

Thanks for your help. Now I know what I'm dealing with, and I'm glad It's not a hardware issue.
