cant play actuall dvds on windows media player 11

i have windows media player 11.ive got codecs to play avi files and such,but when i put a real dvd in i get a warning saying "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer." is ther a free decoder that i can get or what

You need to install dvd player: Cyberlink PowerDVD, WinDVD, Fantasy DVD Platinum, CineMaster 2000 DVD Player ( Old ATI DVD Player) and AsusDVD (Asus name on PowerDVD).

i dloaded a vlc or somthing like that program that works but are any of the ones you suggested free?

Sounds like you have exactly the same problem as I had download this dvd player it is totally free, have mine 3 weeks now and not one problem. www.avsmedia.com
