Windows media player is not the best choice for playing dvd's. Use windvd or powerdvd. I tried to play a couple of movies in windows media player and quit frankly it sucks most would not play. Using the same movies windvd and powerdvd played them flawlessly.

    Good Luck

i dont really know any other solution, have you got all the proper decoders installed, do a system restore (the one from the start menu)

I had a problem like yours. If I recorded a dvd-r or dvd+r with my ilomu5 recorder my computer would freeze up...........However, if I burned to a dvdrw+r ( Imitation ) It would download and I could watch it with Real Player and even make copies to dvd+r and dvd-r. These copies could then be copied and would download and play on my computer as well as dvd players. I use Liteon as my pc recorder and Nero software. Hope this helps. I don't know why all this happens.
