    Hi,
I have a PS2 v4 or 5 with a magic 3.1 chip. Everytime I try to play burned games, some game will work and some games will freeze. Rainbow six 3 will not even bootup. I have tried the game on my friends ps2 and it will play just fine there. He has the same version that I have with the same mod chip, but he got a new laser for it. I have tried to clean the laser and adjust it a little but it still does not load and run some game properly.
Do you think the laser could be going and would I need to buy a new one or would it be worth just buying a new PS2.

    Thanks,
I live in Canada and I might just buy a ps2 instead of a new laser.

I just had my laser replaced for $50. 1/3 cost of a brand new unit.

I was talking to someone I know and he said he is able to get a new laser for me for about $55 Canadian, but I think I am change my mind and I will just get my friend to get me a new laser instead. It will save me the trouble of buy a new PS2 and a new mod chip for it.
    Thanks for everyone's help.
