This drive is situated within my Asus laptop with the following specs: And these are the rewritables I am trying to use: I really have no clue what the problem could be. All help would be greatly appreciated.
your Firmware is way behind the current firmware is 1M34 this may be the reason for your problem if you are not up to date on firmware you will have problems with blank media
Thanks for the advice David, but I really don't know where or which firmware to download, could you please provide me with a direct link? --- Can I use this one? http://support.packardbell.de/de/mypc/index.php?PibItemNr=7018810000&PibItemParent=platform_Lynx
go to www.rpc1.org look for Toshiba type in your model number for your drive and it will com up with the firmware upgrade
It seems not to work. Not even one of them, every time I execute a firmware update it gives messages like "(Target) CD-Drive not found" : /
Ok, but how should this be done? Do I have to open up my laptop and change the jumper settings? Or is there another way to do it? Because when I entered the BIOS at startup, it wasn't possible to make the DVD drive master nor to make the harddisk slave. --- I opened up the device manager and it is recognised in two ways: First as a Generic Stealth DVD SCSI CDROM Device and second as a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R6012
in order to change jumper you must remove drive from laptop if you have just one drive if it is a combo it will have to stay as a slave if it ia a combo drive check the jumper setting on the drive make sure it is set as slave if all fails you may have a bad rw disc or a bad drive
