Hi, I have bought a new cd and wanted to rip a few tracks to mp3. After the tracks have been ripped (using nero) when I play them back on my PC (Vista) the sounds all distorted I'm assuming its somekind of cd protection, I've tried other software too but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? thanks.
do you have anydvd and have it enabled? It's supposed to remove DRMs from cds. Free 21 day trial at slysoft.com
Instead of payware why not have a think outside the box? DRM usually relies on hidden installed processes.. http://www.freedom-to-tinker.com/blog/jhalderm/cd-drm-attacks-disc-recognition
@paula To be honest, I've never had a cd that I couldn't rip to my HDD. Now I realize that I don't buy many new ones if at all. But so far so good. I just thought poster might already have AnyDVD.
Nope that didnt work still distorted must be a new kind of protection, not sure what else I can do. I'm sad.
The big test is to see if you can rip an OLD CD-one with no DRMs-and see if it plays fine. If it doesn't then it's your ripping program's software.
Is the cd scratched or dirty? I'm out of suggestions. What is the name of the cd? Someone out there might have it and could suggest a process if they were successful in ripping.
That's WB isn't it.. or is it Fony?? Try dbpoweramp .. won't rip to mp3 in one go.. but who wants mp3 distortion anyway? @ garmoon.. never ever had a problem ripping any music cd's.. or dvd's for that matter except the covenant (damn psl file wouldn't dump properly). This is the kind of trickery those Fony rootkits do when they are installed.. screwing about with the rip streams and stuff. I would look up that Fony rootkit and it's friends and see how to get rid of them
One last suggestion before you shoot yourself. Take it to a friend's pc and see if he can rip it. Get it to format you want-mp3s-if he can and burn files to data disc and load them to your pc. Would load both the Wav and ipod mp3 files to the burned disc.
