    Hi there. I have been backupping DVDs by using DVDFab 2.9 + Vob Blanker + DVD shrink ... so far! But with the Da Vinci Code DVD it don't work at all! Then I tried with DVDFab 3, but the results were worst! Are these tools useless with the new protection algorithms?
    Thanks the the help .

    What errors? What version from DVDFAB did you used to rip? Try to get it's latest DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.2.5, here http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

    As for VobBlanker, you may need some "tweaking" via it's settings, go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/405902 then scroll down and follow the tweaking on my little guide for CLICK. Now try to run it through VobBlanker to see if it's a success. I know SONY is getting tougher, smarter and nastier, but there should be other ways to get around it as well.

    Another flawless free route is RipIt4Me. Good luck.

    its not going to be released till 11-14-06 so you may have trouble till the programs update for this movie. give clonedvd 2 + anydvd a shot also

    many thanks to all of you! First, I'll try the solutions more familiar to me (DVDFab last upgrade + VOB blanker and Ripit4me) and come back with a feedback on this. Just need a couple of days! ;-)

    All the aforementioned programs are battle tested but since this movie is not scheduled to be released for a couple more weeks, and a good number of people won't have until then, the programs may not work. Then again, Sony could have gone weak on this one (in terms of protection) but I seriously doubt it.

    Even though I have AnyDVD, I know that when these two or three day old movies come out, running it through DVDFab and then Shrink always works.

    thats the trick you need to wait a few days on the heavy protected dvds till the programs like anydvd update or you are rolling the dice on whether you can backup the movie correctly

    There's another thread similar to this in the newbie section...I wonder if the R2 version, which released today and the R1 version (releasing in couple of weeks)will have the same prevention schemes? Or there may be an update for anydvd soon...?

    I Have Just Baught A Copy Of he Da Vinci Code Region 2 Released October 16th Upon Trying To Back This Film Up I Encountered The Following Errors And Wondered If Anyone Could Help Me With Them.

    DVD Shrink With AnyDVD Running Comes Up With A Invalid Navigation Structure Error This Error Also Comes Up After I Run The DVD Through VobBlanker And While DVDFab Decrypter Starts To Work It Gets About Half Way Through And Crashes Freezing My Whole System.

    Can Anyone Help Me With These Problems Every Program I Have Is Up To Date Thanks In Advance.

    Biggie76 ,
    Try the ripper function in AnyDVD first ( also use FixVTS automatically) and see if that helps. If that fails send a copy of the ifo's to Slysoft so they can look at it and rework the decryption.

    Hi people,this one was a bit of a mare.However i managed it by by ripping to hard disk using Fab decryptor then opening the video ts file in shrink and all worked well. The full disc was only 47% so used re-author for the main movie and now have a nice good quality copy.
    Hope this post helps.

    Biggie76,
    After the rip have you tried running it through VobBlanker to correct the structural problems and then use Shrink

    @Biggie76

    The reason why there's error before maybe it's because you're transcoding via DVD Shrink while AnyDVD is decrypting on the background. I may be wrong, plus I don't have/never used AnyDVD, but I would not recommend anyone to decrypt on the fly while transcoding. I highly recommend ripping any movies/dvds into the hard drive first, then continue from there.

    The US Region 1 is not out yet, but I'm pretty confident that both DVDFAB Decrypter and RipIt4Me can handle this (DA VINCI CODE) flawlessly as usual. Both tools are FREE and extremely useful -- either RipIt4Me or DVDFAB has never failed me.

    @newbies or those interested

    NOTE: make sure to update and get the latest RipIt4Me and FixVTS

    If using RipIt4Me, FixVTS should process right away once DVD Decrypter is done. If using DVDFAB, once the ripping process is completed, just fire up FixVTS or VobBlanker and clean out any left over corrupted cells, vts, etc.

    Best of luck to all.

    The Da Vinci Code has already been released in the U.K. I found that DVD Shrink would not accept it and neither would NERO Recode.
    I eventually managed to Rip it with Any DVD and burn it with Clonedvd

    Good luck Thomas
