I just purchased a "Fire place video" for my TV. It works great in my DVD player but when I put it in my computer so I can back up the disk I can't see any video files on the disk. Niether can cloneDVD or FabDVD or Windows explorer. I've backed up movie DVD's before but have never run into this problem. You can see on the disk there is something burnt to it. And it plays great ???? Any suggestion I can try. Thanks in advance.
Is that a "pressed" DVD or a burned DVD? If it is a burned DVD, is it DVD+R or DVD-R? Can your computer's drive read either?
I have two DVD burners and both can read and write both DVD+R and DVD-R discs. I have just looked again at this disc with an eye lupe and can see its a Memorex Printable DVD-R 4.7GB 16X disc and on the burnt side there is the number DR5F6O-01809 I have never seen a disc like this my computer could not at least see a file on. What kind of prtection could this be ? Where the DVD player could play it and the computer not see it ? Thanks for the help.
Your disc might have been UDF formatted: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321640 http://forums.vso-software.fr/can-t-find-anything-on-burned-dvd-t7438.html
From the second link that I posted, it seems that if your disc was recorded with UDF, then you would need SP3 with UDF driver in order to read it maybe. Did you try to see the disc with WMP or nero maybe?
All DVDs are UDF. Media DVD-Video media use UDF version 1.02. These discs contain a so-called UDF Bridge format, whereby both an ISO 9660 (Level 1) and a UDF 1.02 filesystem are present on the same disc, describing the same filesystem. All standard formats for video recording on DVD-style media use some version of the UDF filesystem.
I wnat to thank you people for all your help. I was able to backup the disc with DVDFab5122. I could not see it with WMP or Roxio. Thanks again
