im trying to get a friend's machine to be able to download and playback flv files acquired from youtube, google video, etc. they're not the most technically able and are very used to wmp and it'd be easier if they didnt have to switch to a new player to view flvs, such as vlc...

ive configured their firefox and ie to save the flv files, thats fine. ive also done all the steps in the afterdawn article here, installing ffdshow decoder and the splitter, and flvs now play fine in wmp 11, but i cant seek to a specific point in the video or it just starts all over. reminds me of an avi file without an index... anyway, is there a simple way to fix this? is it the file or the player?

thanks, and sorry if this has been asked too many times....

well it turns out most videos are in fact seekable so its not a wmp or plugin issue, its probably just a file without and idex issue or something like that..... is there any easy, cheap way to fix these files??
