I've tried DVD shrink, DVDFab, and RipIt4Me but none seem to work. Has anyone had any success backing up their copy? Thank you

I used DVDFab and it worked just fine. I just did the movie.

Make sure you are using the most current versions of the programs you mentioned...I backed up mine using Ripit4Me, movie+menus.

Well, DVDFab now isn't free anymore but I did try the demo Gold version and it said there was no DVD inserted -Update, it seemed to work the next time around.
But I'd like to use RipIt4Me seeing it'll continue being free I imagine. When I was prompted I downloaded the up-to-date versions but when I open it up in either Wizard or 1-Click Mode it doesn't seem to recognize a movie is there though I do see the DVD. Whether I select the DVD or the VIDEO_TS folder I can't get it to let me choose anything in the "Selected Movie" field and then click Next.
Now, I just tried opening DVD Decrypter by itself and it seems to be going at it fine so far. If that finishes OK I'll be in good shape. I just don't understand why RipIt4Me wouldn't work.
Thanks for any of your input.

Um... DVD Decrypter has run into an error I can't seem to get around at only 8 percent into the process. (/-\)

Thank you for the link to DVDFab for free. I don't see why when the program prompts you to update it takes you to their website which doesn't see to offer a free version that I could see. Some might call that good business I guess (?).
I still don't understand why I couldn't get RipIt4Me to work but I think DVDFab will.
    Cheers

Since Decrypter is no longer updated it might have some trouble with the newer movies.

Good luck and post back if you have problems with DVD Fab.

You're welcome. Glad you've got it all sorted by using DVDFab Decrypter. DVDFab Decrypter is pretty simple, plus it's one of the best FREE ripper now (beside RipIt4Me).

This is a must have tool -- in addition, Fengtao (the author behind DVDFab Decrypter) is pretty good with all the updates on all of his tools. He regularly updates his products so it can rip (bypass) any of the newer protections out there.

    Best of luck!!

I need help with this one too. I have AnyDvd, updated it yesterday, and I usually use Nero Recode 2. I try to ImportDVD, I select my DVD drive and click OK but nothing happens after that, it just stops responding. I got it to work once but it failed, there was an error compiling the DVD volume. I saved it as a log file if you want me to post it.

I tried RipIt4Me and DVD Region Free and they didn't work either. DVD Shrink does not install on my PC, the very end of the installation freezes it up. It actually shows up in my start menu but the icons are generic and it's not a valid shortcut.

Does DVD Fab Decrypter shrink the DVD to fit on a DVD+R?

I'm having the same problem too. I downloaded and installed DVDFab AND AnyDVD after trying and failing with DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, DVDXCopy, and DVDNextCopy.

DVDFab keeps giving me read errors with about a billion "retry, abort, ignore, ignore all" popups.... Tried Full Disc and Movie Only Options.

Haven't got a clue what AnyDVD is actually doing for me....

Tried following guide from the link in alkohol's post, but no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You just run anydvd in the background. It does it's thing all by itself.

    @nick

To be honest, I really don't know why you're having errors or no luck following the guide with DVDFab Decrypter & VobBlanker or RipIt4Me Guide, but mine worked flawlessly as usual.

Here are some screenshots of how smoothly everything went. I could of have DVDFab Decrypter ripped just the "Main Movie" only with 10 minutes or so, but since I like to have a Menu, I ripped it as "Full Disc".

NOTE: I didn't even need to transcode my backup of TALLADEGA NIGHTS at all, I burn it straight with Nero Burning Rom. Backup came out perfect, everything plays beautifully.

No pun intend, but am I the only one that think "the kissing part/scene" is totally useless?

First, DVD Decrypter alone can't handle "TALLADEGA NIGHTS", it has the latest protection. You'll need DVDFab Decrypter or RipIt4Me as mentioned above to rip the movie/DVD into your hd first.

To convert DVD into IPOD, you need Nero Recode (via Recode Main Movie to Nero Digital) and goes from there. It's pretty easy, I've done it in the past.

    Best of luck!!
