Cant watch DixV, what should i encode instead

    I have some videos that i wish to burn to a DVD. I cant play DivX on my dvd player thats attached to my tv, so any got any suggestions on which codec i should encode?

    Well if it is just a regular DVD player then that means DVD video, which means that you are limited to MPEG1/2.

    if i convert to dvd format like mpeg 1/2 will the DivX codec be removed or will it still be there?

    Encoding won't uninstall DivX. If you mean will your file still be DivX, then no. DivX is MPEG-4 and generally in an avi/divx container. When you convert to DVD video format, you end up with MPEG1/2 in VOB's.

    aah! i get it now thanks. Im using nero 7 and in nero vision if i convert to mpeg 2's will it play on a dvd player?
