I am not sure if my question makes sense, but here goes: I am able to convert my VHS & Dig8 home movies to DVD successfully. Then recently I bought a home theatre in a box (SONY HTDDW780), and these DVD's made no sound, so I had to change my DVD audio settings to PCM for it to work, or I change the Receivers menu to receiving audio IN from DVD as analog. But when I play hollywood movies, I have to change the settings again to enjoy the rich digital sounds of the movie. All this is a pain, because then I have to change the DVD audio menu to Bitstream. Anyway I could do that, but I would rather change the Audio on my home movies so that I don't have to keep fliping the audio setup between two diff dvd's.

I am wondering during encoding or some stage prior to authoring the home made movies if I am able to change the audio to diff format to work around this problem? So for instance can I change my home movies from analog to digital?

I hope I am making sense in all this. Please help with recommendations. I use Sony Vegas & others to edit the home movies. I also have Soundforge program.

Not sure if I follow your post, but the title suggests that you want to convert to Dolby.

Afer encoding in Canopus Procoder I'm left with a wave file, which I "normalize" in Wavelab or Soundforge.

Then use Sony Vegas to encode the wave to Dolby and add that Dolby ac3 file to my project.

I will try that. The issue is that when I read my VHS files the audio is in PCM format, I would like to change that 2 channel into Dolby. By the way where do I get Canopus Procoder pgm?
