hi there, i'd be happy if some of the dvd-recording-pros could give me a helping hand here... i captured a 90min movie with [bold]Pinnacle PCTVsat[/bold] chose the qualitylevel "DVD". the output was an mpg-file. now if i try to burn it onto DVD, using [bold]Ulead Videostudio 7.0[/bold], it tells me that the movie is too big to fit on one DVD. my question is, how can i compress the DVD-qualityfile a little bit just that it fits onto a DVD, without having to deal with SVCD-quality? i hope you can help me / give me a hint which program solves my problem thanks a lot in advance! Tony
First make sure your DVD authoring Software is Not Re-Encodeing the Video file to make the DVD..... Secondly before you capture you should Set up a Custom Capture Profile in your Capture software and set the Capture Bitrate to the Correct Bitrate so that the Captured file Fits on a DVD...To get the Correct Capture Bitrate you need to use a Bitrate calculator which will tell you what Bitrate to use Baced on the Length of the Movie so that it Fits on a DVD.... Since the File here is allready Captured and I suppose the Capture file is Over 4.38gb so you can Just Author it to a Video_TS Folder and then use DVD-Shrink to shrink the Folder so it Fits on a DVD.... You could also edit a couple of Minutes off of the end to shrink the size... It is best to capture useing the Correct Bitrate in the First Place as opposed to haveing to re-encode the file again to shrink the size.... Cheers
hello guys! thanks for your help. exactly. so what i did was using [bold]DVD Santa[/bold] to author it to a Video_TS folder, but i got the message "unsupported audiostream". can you recommend another good authoringprogram, i could try? thanks a lot in advance!! Tony
One of the Best DVD authoring Programs is "MediaChance DVD Lab Pro" which supports all of the DVD standards and Audio formats Plus it has Great Menu"s Features and It is easy to use and Can Make Very Simple Basic DVD"s or extremely Complex Feature rich DVD"s so it can be use by poeple with very Little Experience in DVD authoring to Professinal Videographers.... One think you should Know is that DVDLab is Just a DVD authoring program and does not Contain a Encoder so your Source Files have to be in a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 format....DVDLab will also author VCD and SVCD Files to DVD without re-encodeing which is a Handy feature especially if you have a Lot of SVCD"s you want to Back up to DVD without looseing any Quality.... Cheers
