Is there a way to capture one frame from a DVD movie directly to a jpg file. I have imtooripper and can convert to an avi file or mpg1 file, but seem to lose quality, at least, when imported into the windows movie maker. Looking for a way to do it and retain the same quality in both the avi and the jpg files. my windows movie maker seems to handle the avi and mpg1 files (320x240) but not the mpg2 files. don;t know whether I can increase the resolution of avi output to 640x480 but does not seem to work. get a error from the ripper.

If I wanted the cleanest frame grab from a DVD I would open the VOB file in VirtualDubMod and save the frame as a .bmp. You can always convert it to a .jpg later.

So is what your looking for a picture (Capture). I know windvd has a capture function. I've used windvd4 and 6 both of them have this feature not sure if it puts it in .jpg format or not though never used it. I just took a peek at program saves it as jpg or bmp. Im sure you already know jpg will be a smaller file.

    Good Luck
