I tried to hook up a multi-card reader (ie MMC) that fits in the 3.5" drive and uses a usb header cable that hooks up to the motherboard. I got it in place fine, but I can't seem to get the header cable hooked up correctly. I can only see one place on the motherboard to connect it, except it has all 10 prongs when the instructions to the reader say that it should be missing one. I tried connecting both ways to the set of prongs and the computer won't recognize it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
is there a pin 1 marked on the usb connector on the motherboard?? if so or check the motherboard manual to confirm which is pin1, the 5v+ of the usb cable is located there. here is how it should be connected 1 1vcc 2 2vcc 3 1-d 4 2-d 5 1+d 6 2+d 7 1gnd 8 2gnd 9 nc 10 gnd #9 is not connected & #10 might be an extra ground or notconnected. also check in the bios to confirm all usb ports are enabled
ddp~ Thanks for your reply. The only thing I saw buy the prongs was "USB 4" and as far as a manual, I'm SOL. A "buddy" built it for me and I don't have anything to go with it. I'll look closer to see if there are any other numbers and I'll check in my bios. By the wasy, the prongs are between some of my PCI ports (didn't know if that helps). Thank again, let ke know if you have any other ideas.
