I installed a USB2 internal Card Reader/Writer including its driver. The problem is on boot-up the following events occur. Found new hardware Wizard "an error occured during installation of the device. The data is invalid". Also occurring multiple pop-up windows (like @ least a dozen) "Unsafe Removal of device". When I finaly have a successful boot-up I checked the Device Mgr and it indicates that the Mass Storage Device is OK. In fact everything under USB is OK. Interesting to note I tried a different vendor Card Reader/Writer with the same results. I un-plug the connector and the computer works fine. OS is Win 2000 pro. Motherboard is USB 2 compliant. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...
What SP on win2K? I think you need certain drivers for USB 2.0 to work with Win2K. Link to Mirosofts search results regarding Win2K and USB 2.0 http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=windows+2000+pro+USB+2.0+drivers ~Rich
Hi, Driver CD came with the unit. I have SP4 installed. All my other USB devices work. Thanks, I'll try your suggestion.
If you have SP4, then USB 2.0 drivers came with it. <scratches head in confusion> Let me think on this one for a bit. If I dont get back, it means I have nothing. ~Rich
