kk, i bought a new case, and now that ive run down 3 diff mobos and a hard drive im trying to be as careful as possible. the case i bought, instead of comming with the basic brass mounting posts, the base on the case elevates at the position of where the regular mounting posts would be, the case came with 2 mounting posts, which i found odd, but it also came with what seems like a bagillion black screws... when i use the mounting posts + some ones i have here at the house...nothing fits in the back...such as vid card , pci cards, and the integrated ports on the mobo... would i harm the mobo if i didnt use the mounting posts?...what should i do instead?
your board sits on those elevtaed points plus 2 posts were there is no mounting points. once you have that figured out but don't mount the board yet as 1 or more of those elevated mounting points won't match a board hole which could short out. the red paper washers you got, put 1 on top of that elevated mounting point than cover it with electrical tape as straight electrical tape is not thick enough to prevent some of the ic pins from penetrating to the metal & shorting.
the black screws didnt fit the holes in the base of the case, the regular ones worked fine. thanks again ur always a lifesaver.
