    @garmoon
    I totally agree

    @UrAteUp
    Using the latest DVDFab - 3.0.8.6?

    If you can to page 2 in this thread there's a guide by pacman and setting up and using RipIt4Me.

    For AnyDVD and this one - CloneDVD (has a 21 day free trial) will work, or rip to your hard drive w/ AnyDVD and open in Shrink. I think you'll need to use reauthor mode to do main movie only.

    Or garmoon's method - anydvd w/ Nero recode - movie only.

    So as you can see there are several ways to get this one down. With free stuff and retail stuff.

    Check the back the disc too just in case - clean off any smudges, dirt etc with something non abrasive in a non circular motion.

    I got a good DVD compliant rip using RipIt4Me. Here's a quick guide that bbmayo and I worked on together. http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/TheGuides/pacman777guide.pdf
    I suspect you may have hit an error with AnyDVD and Shrink on Casino Royale. Lately AnyDVD and Shrink haven't been working well together on the ARccOS (Sony) copy protection.

    Creaky
    Saw 3 Unrated from Region 1 was the first of the more difficult heavier copy protection. Region 2 didn't have the same protection. It was about a week or so before Fengtao got up to speed on that one. DVDIdle said the problem was in getting one of the Region 1 discs to work with. Most of the software is up to date and Casino Royale shouldn't be much of a problem. It had about 100 IFOs and about 92 bogus VTS here in Region 1 (similar to Saw 3). Just the number of trash files took longer to process than normal. It took about 28 minutes with RipIt4Me using a dual core AMD @ 2.8GHz. As usual I've heard complaints about different software which gives me the impression it's mostly individual system problems and some user errors.

    I forgot, the Shrink-AnyDVD conflicts with the newer Arccos protections have had some users confused. Before it was a successful setup. Now it's hit or miss depending on the protection used on the release.

    I finally got it with RIPIT4ME. Thanks to you all. It was easy with RIPIT4ME and didn't take too much more time. This forum has taught me alot. That's why I keep on coming back.

    Just a question that I'm curious about...

    When I backed up Stranger Than Fiction & Casino Royale using RI4M > Vob Blanker (to dump the trailers & extras) then FixVTS & finally PGCEdit > DVD Shrink > imgBurn. I find that PGCedit finds Sony's ArCCoSS protection at the end of the movie so to give you an example at 2:15:49 which is after the ending credits. Normally Sony's ArCCoSS protection is in the middle of beginning of a disc.

    Is this something to worry about when making my backups??

    Thanks in advance for helping me out with my question.

    @UrAteUp,
    just to let u know for future reference that all u needed to do to fix ur first problem is use VobBlanker Or FixVTS before using Shrink
    so this is how u would do it DVDFab then VOBblanker or FixVTS then dvd shrink

    @ra0ulduke,
    just to let u know VOBblanker does the same thing that FixVTS does, so u dont need to use both, when blanking trailer and extras VoBblanker also corrects the structure too.

    Bowler
    With FixVTS already incorporated into RipIt4Me, it's easier to just let the program do the job in the one click mode and wait for it to open in Shrink. With the movie only and movie + menu rip modes in RipIt4Me, it even makes editing content easier.

    I'm not knocking DVDFab Decrypter or FixVTS. I have them both. I just find RipIt4Me has been a sure thing with the newer protections and everything is simplified in one package.

    @ ra0ulduke

    Bowler is right. You're overdoing it with the software and doing redundant processing. FixVTS is built into RipIt4Me. So there is no need to use the separate FixVTS or VobBlanker to process for compliance. If you don't want the extras, use the movie + menu or movie only rip option in RipIt4Me. Rip modes are selectable in the 1-Click window when you start.

    It would be interesting to see what's going on with your setup. RipIt4Me has been getting it done for a lot of others including me. Full DVD rip of Casino Royale and not a problem. It did the Region 1 Saw 3 before the updates. All I do is rip in Full DVD and use the 1-Click mode. I either multitask or take a break while the rip is being done. So far it hasn't failed.

    It appears it has more to do with your particular system than the software. If it was a common software problem, we'd have a lot more complaints. The way it is the software isn't %100, but it's working for most of us. Like you said, strange it working on Saw 3 and now not working. Have you put in a question to the RipIt4Me crew yet? Why don't you post your log and let us see if we can spot anything.

    I would definitely make sure ripit4me is updated and give it another shot. It's emerging as the pre-eminent program that works everytime. I'm in agreement with PacMan. You might even uninstall and reinstall the newest version with incorporated FixVTS. Use the (red) installer link and then use the one click method.

    @PacMan,

    I know that,
    i was just telling UrAteUp that he/she didn't need to re-rip the dvd with RI4M(since it was ripped already on the HD) when all he/she had to do is what i said, to fix this problem below
    I do agree with u that RI4M is the best program out there for Noobs(and others) and to do the new sonys just becuz it incorporates FixVTS(which is very cool so people cant skip that part anymore) and its very easy to follow,
    But this is the reason why i dont use it that much

    For one thing i have to use VoBB for every backup, using VoBB does the same thing that FixVTS does and basically its faster to rip with DVDFab then use VoBB, oh yeah i dont use shrink anymore either, its either Nero recode(much faster too) or DVD-RB w/CCE.

    hi, used RipI4Me along with shrink and it appeared to be successful in creating a iso file. however, when i go to play the iso file in VLC medial player it tells me that there is an error "VLC Player has encountered an error and needs to close. do you want to report to Microsoft?" on every other movie i have backed up the iso file and the original video_ts folder have played in vlc player, this movie is the only exception. should i burn it and try playing it or is something wrong? btw, i did backup full dvd, and did not shrink it as i inteded to burn it on a dual layer dvd. thanks.

    OK..... well

    after hours of trying different combinations to back up casino royale... here is the one that worked for me

    1st use RipIt4Me but not exactly like they say....

    Use wizard mode, after the ripping it will ask you do you want to fix vob files, etc in the box of ripit4me..... wait...

    open fixVTS and find the vob file click the full dvd button.... after this step continue with the RipitforMe process of clearing errors and blank sectors

    You can try to continue with dvd shrink but I keep getting an error on #07

    instead open nero recode2 and choose main movie only, I used burn on fly method.. either method works

    WORKED.... the only way

    RIPIT4ME + fixVTS + Nero Recode = PLAYABLE MOVIE

    I don't recommend burning on the fly. I'll will ultimately cause coasters.
