i am having trouble finding a cat 6 cable(crossover cable) at stores, i've looked all over, can someone tell me how to make one with an ethernet cable?
That's funny 'cause I thought 'Crossover Cabels'', were caled CAT-5E!! I was under the impression that CAT-6 was for Gigabite Ethernet...
yea but he is going straight from pc to xbox and like i said a crossover cable can be found at all electronic stores.
Ok I googled for 'CAT-6' and came to the conclusion that my above comment is not totaly BS. But is, still BS all the same. CAT-6(E): When used in this instance would be a waste of resources as the Cable has a theoretical 250Mhz Speed. Where as CAT-5(E) only has a 100Mhz Though-put. But, here's the catch! Aghhh there's allways the rub right?! In order to use CAT-6 in CAT-6 Mode you must have 100% CAT-6 compliacne. To the best of my knowlege I don't know of any Homebased PC / Mac Equipment that currently supports full CAT-6(E). So while you could go out and purchace all the CAT-6(E) your Heart desires! Unfortunatly you can only expect to have CAT-5(e) performance speeds. So CAT-6(E) will only work if you have a Gigbit Ethernet (i.e. 10/100/ **1000**) Router / Hub / Modem and or NIC. And as far as I know the XBOX™ has only a 10/100TX Port. So this should give you a clue. The only good thing is that the XBOX 360°™ should have 802.11g support out of the Box! Which, thanks to S0NYs' PSP, I'm stating to take more, and more intrest in switching over to...
