ok long story i will try to shorten. my burning software is RecordNow, which came with the computer. my original cd burner quit working. it will say its burning the cd, but when its done the cd is still blank. ive tried diff. software, it all does the same thing. i purchased a new cd burner (hooked up as a slave to the first drive) and at first it worked, but was super slow (Even though it says 52x burning speed) taking at least 10 minutes to burn a full cd. i have messed with a few settings, experimenting, and have gotten it to burn at full speed (about 2 minutes for a full cd) but towards the second half of the cd, the sound gets realllly scratchy, steadily gets worse, and as it goes on it eventually is un-playable. really ticks me off because the last few tracks wont play. anyone have any suggestions?
Try burning at a slower speed. Look to see what speed your CD's are rated for & cut it in half. So, if your CD's are rated for 48X burn them at 24X or less. I usually use 16X. The difference isn't all that much & you should get better results. If not, you'll have to look at something else that may be wrong.
omg wow... ok so 24x was a little better. i tried 8x and it was twice as bad. it didnt even get past track 10 before it started getting all scratchy and tracks 12+ wouldnt play. some specs: the drive says it is IDE5232CO the cd-r's are Memorex 52x 80min, which have always worked just fine for me.
