CD/DVD drive doenst recognise ANY CDs but does dvd!HELP!!

    HI, Im completely baffled today.
    MY CD drive reads and plays and recognises DVDs fine but doesnt read CDs at all. This started after I had burned a CD, the drive just kept running (used Nero) so I had to shut the computer down to stop it.
    Now it wont read ANY cds atall.
    The computer is a AMD Sempron 3000+. The drive that wont work is the writer drive.
    ANy help is much appreciated as Im going out of my mind!
