if anyone can help i'd be ever so grateful...ok i'm fixing my friends computer, i think i'm pretty good with computers so i agreed. his cd/dvd-rw is having the problem. the cd portion of the drive doesn't read cd's it reads DVDs fine. the computer its self was loaded with spyware and some viruses, so i cleaned that up. so the only problem is the cd drive. i contacted emachines for some help, after every email i would send they would write back a stupid response like "do a system restore" they are no help at all and i'm just askin for a replacment. i've tried all connections and all is fine. anyone have any suggestions???
uninstall the drive from device manager & restart windows to let it load it's own driver. is there any error codes??
I'm also having problems with my cd-rom/dvd drive. I uninstall it in device manager and restarted my computer and it still doesn't work. There is an exclaimation point near my device (philips dvd8421) and a error code (41). Please help because I can't install my ipod software on my comupter.
do what i posted before & read this link about error code 41. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060
Ok I had the same "Error 41" problem and is now solved. I no longer have the exclaimation point next to the CDROM Drives. Drivers are installed and working properly, but now there is another problem. No software (Sonic Recordnow is what I use now) seems to recongnize my CD/DVD writer? When I load the burning software, I get messages like, no recorder found, unable to initialize the recorder driver or recorder interface, etc.. anyone know what might be causing this? even though the software does support my CD writer, and after installing some ASPI drivers, it's still unable to find my CD/DVD writer Device. Please help! Thanks.
