when i try to burn an audio cd that i downloaded the cd keeps skipping at the exact same time everytime i burn it. This has been going on for about 2 months. I have tried everything i could possibly think if to fix this...so far i have freed up 8GB of hard drive space, ran ad-aware, virus scan, spybot, updated my firmware, changed burning speeds, bought a cd lens cleaner, defragmented my hard drive, re-installed my software and driver and nothing has worked...what am i doing wrong...someone please help me

    Does the original play OK?

Have you tried a different brand of Media to burn to?

What about a different CD Burner? or a different burning program?

Clone CD from Slysoft is very good, and there is a free trial period with it.

the original file plays perfectly....it skips when i burn it.

i have been using the same brand of cds, but they worked fine for me before as has nero which ive been using all along...now for the past few months they skip.

using a different burner doesnt solve my problem.

Is it just this one CD you are having trouble with or several?

I suggest you try a different burning program, sometimes for no apparent reason a program which has worked well for months can go feral and produce random coasters.

Second suggestion would to be to try different media, if you've got a RW try that - nothing lost, or beg steal or borrow a blank CD from somewhere else.

It's just a matter of eliminating things one at a time. One thing -but it seems highly unlikely, but while we are clutching at straws why not - is some weird error/protection on the original which can't be copied to a CD by Nero.

If that's the case I'll recommend Clone CD again in the 'write from image file' mode.

Whatever is on your HDD version should then be reproduced 100% onto a CD including the error/protection or whatever it is.

Failing that I'm sure that someone here who may have had a similar experience will be able to assist.

the problem isnt with copying a cd...its burning downloaded mp3 files....i did try re-downloading the file from another location but i have gotten the skips in the same exact spot still.

i used to use nero 6, i upgraded to nero 7 that didnt help...does clone cd deal with downloaded material?

There have been a lot of users having issues with V7 so make sure your version is up to date.

Did you use Nero Clean Tool before updating to Nero 7?

If you did have a problem with V6 (unlikely) there is a chance that the error would still remain.

Clone CD deals with all types of material, and you should have no problem copying/burning from your HDD to a CD.

I downloaded a hard to get album through three different networks and each copy had the same errors. LOL

I ended up deleting the damaged tracks, downloaded them as singles and then rebuilt the CD. Is that possible in your case?

Yeah, almost every cd I write with nero 7.0.1.4b skips in some places though nero 6 never gave me that problem. Wtf is up with nero 7?

I doubt my maxell TYs are the reason.

Media quality doesn't usually cause problems with CD's, but you are right Jallan, maxell TYs = good quality.

Re: Nero 7, you are not on your own with problems with it.

I prefer V6 anyway, V7 seems to be too bloated with functions that are not really needed but cannot be removed, and as the old saying goes, 'if it ain't stuffed don't fix it' ;)

How well does nero 6 perform with writing dvds? Is that the prefered nero version to do so?

This is a personal opinion but so far I can't see any good reason to update from Nero V6 to Nero V7. New doesn't necessarily mean better anyway.

I've never had a burning problem with Nero V6 for CD's or DVD's. (Of course after saying that I'm now going to produce coasters for the next six months).

Good luck with whatever your choice is.

i like nero 7 way better because of Nero Vision for the DVDS and you man make pretty nice menu screens.. i dunno if u can get that with V6, but when i had V6, it had a crappy version of nero vision... i'd suggest Nero 7. it can do anything v6 can and more.

Great that you've found and fixed the problem BlGERN55.

np helping, it keeps the brain working ;)

It seems that more and more problems are appearing with Nero 7 almost on a daily basis.

I expect that eventually everything will be fixed but Nero 6, when installed correctly seems to have proved itself over time, and I for one won't be going back to Nero 7 after all the problems it caused me, when V6 works so well.

    Hi,
I have got the same problems with Nero 7.
I hope I just solved the problem and I am just playing back my first new cd. Hopely without any skips.
It seems like it has something to do with the file mp3PRO.dll in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins\
The version coming with Nero 7 is not working well. You have to install an older one.
    download at: http://www.drteeth.co.uk/files

    For more info look with:

    Good luck
