Anybody know what's going on here?

I am using Nero 6.0.0.9, my media is Verbatim 52x CD-R,
    My drives are 1) CD-RW SONY CRX320E 2)DVD/CD-RW DW-U18A.
    My system.....is fine.

My problem is, that audio CD's I am burning will not work
in my disco cd players, or even in my car for that matter.
But these discs will play fine in my PC drives as an audio CD.

The music is MP3, burnt in Nero as 'audio CD' at 24x to be safe.
I have used 100's of these discs and never had a problem and I can't see this being a problem with the media.

I have not changed any settins that I know of and both drives seem to work fine for burning data, video etc.

I am NOT burning as MP3 disc or anything daft.

I just don't understand why one day it all works fine and now this is happening?

Any ideas where to start, which settings to look at etc etc?

ps, this is happening when burning on either drive so I'm assuming it is a Nero thing?

Have you installed anything that may have changed a codec or something?

I can not get a reproduction of that problem with nero 7 on my comp or nero 6 on the wifes.

If you look at the disk that plays on the comp but not on the cd players in explorer what do the tracks look like?

just in case it's something daft, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    thanks guys,

defo clicked 'audio cd' as normal, tracks on the cd? do you mean how it looks on the actual disc? if so it looks fine, no streaks or rings etc. Nothing new installed apart from new update of morpeus which has buggered my pc up before now!

When I say Morpeus buggered my PC, that was the last time I updated it, my pc has been reformatted and xp reinstalled since then.
I did the most recent update a few days ago and it seemed ok this time.

I really hope i haven't done something stupid here but I realy can't think of anything that has changed. i havn't deliberately changed any settings, media is the same???? god knows.

Sounds similar to my problem. You even used just about the same words "but I didn't change anything!", lol. Mine is described in this thread:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/274016

    Have you figured anything out?

In my case, even the players on my PC don't recognize my CDs as audio. If I look at them as data disks (like in Windows Explorer) they are fine, with .cda files.

If I change Nero from DAO to TAO, that solves that problem, but then I can't burn any text onto the CD.

    Thanks,
    Ted

    Hi Ted

just had a look at your thread and it sounds very similar!
I'm not a nero expert and have never heard of some of those options you mentioned (I have never had the need to change anything before, like you said it has always been idiot proof!)
I will have a look when I get a minute and let you know how I get on.

By the way, do you think this might have something to do with it?

"This version of the application can not run in this language"

It appears every time I start Nero, it never used to but has done since putting my 'real' version of SP2 XP on (before that I was being a bit naughty) Though this message has appeared for a while now and never caused any problems before. You just click 'ok' and Nero lets you get on as normal.

    Hi All,

I've just installed Nero 7 and I get same situation with audio CD's. It plays normal on the PC but when I try to play it on my CD player, it always shows a "no disc" message. By now I've solved it using Adobe Audition, but I never had this issue with Nero 6.

Could this have something to do with having the short lead out feature enabled?

As noted above, mine don't play normal on the PC either. <shrug>
