hi guys! i'm just confuse if there is any difference between the cd with the white color at the bottom and from the cd with the brown color at the bottom? why i ask this because i used to put the white color cd and it's working 100% on my ps2 but then when i used this brown color it can't read the cd.
i've already try to clean the lens and adjust the VR at the bottom and still the same problem.
    thanks a lot

What the?, white colour bottom discs, can't quite understand what ur sayin there but i never heard of any cd thats white or brown underneath they've always been silver. Are u sure it's the right kind and side up, because certain PS2s wont work with especially cd-rw, i think dvd-rw for movies might, but for me cd-rw dont.

If your havin problems playing any copied cd/dvd game and u dont have a chip or Swapmagic, backups dont work. So do u have a modchip or SM, exactly what is the prob u have, mainly its Cds that dont work to good wiht any PS2.

    Cheers

khoubos, you are not alone ... i have the exact same problem ...
the newer DVDs seem to have a darker bottom (where the DVD gets read)

my PS2 is pretty old .. nearly 3 years and is modded ... i bought a few new games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 (not so new) and Dynasty Warriors 5 ... and each time i insert the games, the error msg comes up saying Please Insert A PS or PS2 Disc ...

the only factor i can assertain is that there is something with these new games .. and looking at the CDs, they seem to have a darker bottom ... however one of the new games i bought, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, works fine ... really odd!

i was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong? ... i might take my machine back to the shop and get them to check it out ... hopefully someone can enlighten us before hand ... thanks a bunch

Yep that gotta be the laser needing adjustment. On the older models upto v7 i think, there's just one white cog inside next 2 da laser but on the later ones V9 and up have got two cogs which i found frustrating to adjust. Anyway this moves the height of it closer or further away from the disc, adjusting this supposedly corrects any disc read errors when they always occurin. And if adjusting it doesn't help, then laser maybe buggered and needs replacing. I would take it to the shop and find out whats up, or u could chuck brick thru it hehe. my brother has an old model ps2 and couldnt get it 2 read, so he punched it and that got it goin again.
