I DL'ed Nero 5.5.9.17. I have an external HP cd-writer 8200 series drive connected via USB to my computer. It's drive H:. Nero refuses to recognize ANY recorder on my computer. The only thing in the "choose recorder" menu that comes up is an image recorder which doesn't do me any good. The copy of Nero I DL'ed doesn't have a help file in it and I can't find one anywhere. HOW can I get it to recognize my CD-R???? The CD-R works fine otherwise. HELP.

    I would say it's from 1998/99.

OK, ya might try updating your ASPI layer.
If that doesn't work, it may be time to get a new drive. Heck, if it's 4x, might as well invest 30 bucks in a new 16 or 24.

what's the ASPI level and how do I update it?And if you know where to get an older version of Nero, that would help. Basically I want to make a VCD but the file is about 1 GB so I need something that will split it up onto 2 CD-Rs. Know of any programs/utilities?

I downloaded the ASPI program from www.nero.com.

They might also have older versions of Nero there too.

    I haven't installed it yet.
