I xfrd from my canon digital camcorder to my samsung dvd recorder onto a Maxell cd-r disc. I was only able to view it on that device. Then, I finalized the disc so it was supposed to be able to play anywhere but now I cannot see it even on the device on which it was recorded or anywhere else! Did I lose the contents completely? what about re-formatting? what is that and will it help me? Thanks!!

I had a Samsung recorder but it could not burn CD's of any kind.
It could burn to DVD-R and DVD-RW.
Was it a DVD-R and are you saying that the disk will no longer play in either the Samsung or on your PC DVD rom/burner after you finalized it?

You can try one of the many data recovery progs. on your PC to see if any files can be salvaged.

Is one example, but I have no opinion as to their use.
