I have burned 2 VCD's using FUJI 48x CD-R media and 1 using Memorec CD-RW. None of them will play in my standalone DVD player. It is VCD capable, and in the display I can even see the darkened out "MPEG". The player highlights type of disc then highlights file type. Why won't they play. Yess they are VCD's not SVCD's...
To rule out the possibility of the discs, try playing them on another vcd-capable standalone dvd player. Do they play?
Did you first encode the MPEG1 (VCD) files before burning? What program or encoder did you use? Shoey
Could it be that your standalone doesnt play "standard" vcds and you might need to switch to nonstandard compliance when burning? Dunno really, just a shot in the dark....
I've never read or heard this could be done(or has been done) but I'm not ruling out that it "could" be done. Shoey
I used dvd2avi,avi2vcd,tmpgenc. What would a non-standard be compared to standard. That could be it because this dvd player was bought right when dvd's started to come out, so its one of the first ones.
By "non-standard compliance" I mean, under Nero for burning (S)VCDs you can set other options if you click the "Enable non-standard compliance" or something like that. Do the discs play fine under another standalone DVD player?
