    Hi,

First of all, here is the software I use:

    NERO Burning 5.5.10.15a
    Burner: Plextor 16/10/40A
    Consumables: TDK CD-RWXG 80 Min.

VIA Chipset drivers VIA Hyperion 4in1 v4.46
    Audio: AC97

I have to say that these problems has been occurring for 6-8 weeks, before everything was fine.

    The Problem

What happens is that when I play audio CD-RW on my standalone DVD Player (SONY DVP-S535D) after about 60 minutes the CD starts to skip and be idle, then a few seconds and starts again to play until it skips again and so on.
Eventually, I can hear the spinning but no sound.

I burn my CD-RW at 2x, but also I find strange that the options I get are 2x or 4x when the CDs are 1x - 4x.
I have tried any other sort of CD-RW but same result.
If I play the old CD-RW, meaning the ones recorded more than 8 weeks ago, they sometimes have the problem as well therefore I cannot exclude something wrong with my DVD Player.

So, the question is, what can happen to a DVD player after 60 minutes playing, is it related to heating or maybe the lens are dirty?
How can I check the lens? How can I clean them?

In addition, I remember there was a driver that I did not want to update last year because the older version was working better, but I do not remember whether it was the AC97 one or the Motherboard one. The fact is that probably, during a run process of Windows Update, the driver has been updated and maybe this is the reason the sound is so sharp?
Could also be Nero, I keep installing their new releases.
Finally, I have read somewhere that Plextor and VIA Chipset are not good friends, therefore I am confused and don't know anymore what to do.

Maybe you can help me in solving this problem?

Thanks very much for your comments.

    Alex
