What can i doo about my CDRW Drive not wanting to read blanks at all. It just sits there trying to read the disk, it finnaly does and asks for what action i want to take with that blank disk i say burn the disk and it says its not a blank disk.

I was told to change its firmware but i dont know how.

In order to determine what the exact problem is, it would be good to know: 1) the model of drive you have; 2) the recording software you are using; 3) the version of the software and, if the software reports it, the firmware version of your drive; 4) the type of discs you are trying to record; and 5) the speed rating of the discs.

For example, if your drive is an older drive and you are trying to record ultra-speed CD-RW discs, you will get the symptoms you describe because your drive may be standard speed or high-speed compatible but not ultra-speed compatible. (Yes, it's confusing; but the media marketers are not the brightest lights on the Christmas tree. Type 1 DVD-RAM is 2-sided; Type 2 is 1-sided; and there are 10 other types of DVD-RAM!) You might also get these symptoms if you try to write to the wrong DVD format in a single format drive. With a little more information help will be on the way.
